YOUR DEMISE just announced that they will release their new EP “Cold Chillin” on February 7th.
Here’s the official press release:
Hot on the heels of one of the busiest years of their career, Your Demise have revealed details of their next release. The follow up to 2012’s critically acclaimed The Golden Age album will take the form of a furious four track E.P – ironically titled COLD CHILLIN’. The E.P will be unleashed on February 7th, 2013, to coincide with the band’s U.K headline dates, and marks the bands first official release since their departure from Visible Noise Records.
“It’s a great step for a young band to be a part of a recognised label, but as time passes you realise how your reach to your fans could be a lot better in every aspect,” says guitarist Stuart Paice; “Being able to do what we want with our music is the very essence of what Your Demise has been about from the start. We are now able to make choices based entirely on what the band wants to do, and on what we think our fans are entitled to.”
For the E.P‘s release, the quintet have teamed up with long time collaborators Impericon.com & Leeds based D.I.Y label Pinky Swear Records, with Impericon handling the CD edition and PSR an exclusive vinyl pressing. “Impericon and Pinky Swear are both very dedicated to music, and separate themselves from the bullshit that can hang around in the music industry,” says Stuart; “They have shown us great passion and
support, and have helped us in our mission to create a really special and personal release, which will also be very cool for our fans.”Musically, Cold Chillin’ boasts some of the band’s heaviest material to date, in the form of lead single ‘Karma’, alongside some lyrical home truths that go some way to addressing the pitfalls of broader success and the backlash the band encountered from certain sectors of their fanbase after 2012 single ‘These Lights’ saw them diversify their musical arsenal.
“We have written the songs we wanted to, the only way we know how,” comments Stuart on the new material; “We got shit for a few songs on TGA, but we have no regrets at all – we wrote the album we wanted to, and it still features some of the hardest and heaviest material we have ever recorded; sadly that just got a little overshadowed by a vocal minority who couldn’t see past the These Lights video. We write from our hearts and for ourselves, we always have and always will, and this E.P is an expression of just that.” To support the E.P release, Your Demise will headline the UK in February 2013, and they’re enlisting the help
of their friends from around the world to do so; joining YD will be new UK hopes Heights, hotly tipped Canadian hardcore band Counterparts and eclectic Japanese mob Fact.
