Here’s another great tune for the weekend. UK’s post / sludge metallers from TELEPATHY have unveiled a new track off their upcoming debut album called “12 Areas”! Titled “Cystine Knot”, the song gives you a proper insight into the world of deep, crushing and sometimes disturbing sounds mastered by James Plotkin (KHANATE / OLD MAN GLOOM / ISIS / CAVE IN, etc.). Eschewing genre guidelines and traditional song structures whilst blending elements of Progressive Sludge and Post-Metal, TELEPATHY have been causing a stir on the UK and European underground circuit since 2011.
The new album from progressive sludge behemoths Telepathy will be arriving on May 5th 2014 on UK based label Devouter Records. Available on 12″ LP, CD and digitally the album sees Telepathy expanding on their all compassing, technically proficient sludge/post-metal sound whilst adding elements of noise, ambient and drone to their already crushing sonic palette.
Beginning with the slow and uneasy fall into unconsciousness, the record explores the subject of lucid dreaming and dream phenomena, charting the progression of a lucid dream and the many sleep states of the human mind involved in the experience.
The vinyl copy comes on transparent sea-foam green vinyl, with textured reverse stock packaging and additional art work, with mastering by the legendary James Plotkin (Khanate, Old Man Gloom, Cave-In) and artwork by Alex CF (Light Bearer, Fall of Efrafa)

“Cystine Knot” is the first track we wrote for 12 Areas, after our first trip round Europe in 2012. The song encapsulated the spirit we wanted this record to have and paved the way for everything that was to follow. We intended the album to follow an idea of a lucid dream, a waking nightmare if you will, but with an ending that showed a light at the end of the tunnel or a letting go of anxiety that can follow you through these dreams. I think being connected to the DIY scene, and having met some wonderful people along the way has given us this optimism, while still being able to make music that is both dark and fucked up.
We’re currently getting ready to release this record in May and play a few shows around the UK until September, when we’ll be back out on tour in Europe for a couple of weeks. We’re excited to see where this release takes us, and have started throwing around some ideas for the next record. Hopefully it’ll be another busy year! Thanks for having us stream this track with you, getting support this far from home is always heart warming.”
