BEHEMOTH drops “The Shit Ov God”

1 min read

Behemoth has never been subtle. Their upcoming album, The Shit Ov God, is a deliberate middle finger to restraint, out May 9 via Nuclear Blast.

This marks the band’s 13th full-length, an album rooted in defiance, contradiction, and a deep dive into themes of divinity, individuality, and the illusion of salvation. The title track, streaming now, sets the tone for what frontman Nergal calls their most refined and purest work to date. A video for the song premieres at 10 AM ET.

Nergal doesn’t pretend to tiptoe around the album’s intent. “We chose this provocative title deliberately, rejecting subtlety in favor of a direct and polarizing statement.

It’s a defiant plunge into the depths, daring to seek the absolute even in the gutter.” The title itself, provocative as it is, works alongside the album’s artwork—a twisted inversion of the Christogram “IHS,” designed by long-time collaborator Bartek Rogalewicz of BLACK.LODGE.IS.NOW and Dark Sigil Workshop.

“The number thirteen—so magical and significant. If this were to be our final album, I could say I die a proud man,” Nergal states.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most refined, purest representation of Behemoth. No filler, no excess—just the very best we have to offer, handed to you. Hail Satan.”

Musically, The Shit Ov God takes Behemoth’s signature ferocity and sharpens it to a blade. Eight tracks deep, the album doesn’t waste a second on fluff. Jens Bogren (Emperor, Enslaved, Kreator, Rotting Christ) handled production at Fascination Street Studios, ensuring that the album retains Behemoth’s natural chaos without diluting its impact.

The result is raw but meticulous, built to sound as violent as its themes suggest.

The album will be available in multiple formats, including limited vinyl editions, jewelcase CD, cassette, and digital. The band’s Behemoth Webstore will carry exclusive variants, including a glow-in-the-dark picture disc and deluxe boxsets.

Behemoth isn’t stopping at just a release. They’ll take The Shit Ov God on the road as part of the Unholy Trinity European headline tour with Satyricon and Rotting Christ. Tickets are already up.
