Boundaries’ first headlining tour came with expectations, self-doubt, and the unpredictable grind of the road.
Now, that experience has been captured in Death Is Little More Tour Documentary, a film directed by Sarah Holick that offers an unfiltered look at the highs and lows of the band’s journey across the U.S. The documentary presents the band’s reflections on the emotional weight of their first major tour and the tension between fear of failure and gratitude for the experience.
“This documentary’s whole inception stems from the vision of visual artist, Sarah Holick. We wanted to share the experience of our first headlining tour in a way that other tour style documentaries don’t,” the band explained.
“We focused on our mental state, the fear of disappointment internally to ourselves, externally to fans, the expectation to succeed, but above all else, how love, support, and friendship are life’s most invaluable gifts and with them we can all achieve more than we ever thought. ‘Afraid of everything, thankful for all of it.’”

That push and pull—between anxiety and appreciation—sits at the heart of the documentary. As frontman Matthew McDougal puts it, “Any time you do something for the first time you wonder, ‘What if no one cares?’, ‘What if I do it badly?’ We’re very practiced in low expectations so if something doesn’t go perfectly, we’ll be fine with it—but I would hate to not meet someone’s expectations if they were coming out for the first time. The only thing that all of us were mutually worried about was what if nobody shows up?”
For a band like Boundaries, whose sound operates in the space between unrelenting aggression and gothic-tinged melody, the pressure to deliver isn’t just about selling tickets—it’s about maintaining the intensity that defines their music. Their latest album, Death Is Little More, produced by Randy LeBoeuf (Gideon, The Acacia Strain, Kublai Khan TX), embodies that tension. The album features guest appearances from Honeycutt (Kublai Khan TX) and Marcus Vik (Invent Animate), reinforcing the band’s position in the heavier corners of the genre.
The film documents that sense of pressure in real time, revealing moments of vulnerability as much as triumph. Over an hour, Death Is Little More Tour Documentary lays out the band’s internal dialogue, their expectations, and the emotional toll of touring, offering a more introspective take on the standard tour film format.
Death Is Little More earned widespread praise upon its release with MetalSucks saying the 12-song album is “wowing critics all over the place with their sound and fury,” Punk News describing the collection as “a really strong record” adding “the urgency in which it’s played is captivating,” and Knotfest saying it “sways from big hooks to charging choruses and back again.”
Boundaries aren’t slowing down.
Their upcoming tour schedule is relentless, kicking off on February 14 with The Plot In You across the U.S., followed by a European headlining run with Varials, Dagger Threat, and No Face No Case in April.
They’re also slated for major festival appearances at Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville in May, with a brief support run for Killswitch Engage in between.
