After more than two decades of carving their legacy into the metalcore landscape, Caliban has returned with news of their 14th studio album, Back From Hell. Set for release on April 25, 2025, the German outfit remains uncompromising, blending their relentless aggression with fresh energy from a revamped lineup.
The band, led by original members Andreas Dörner (vocals) and Marc Görtz (guitar), now includes Iain Duncan as both bassist and clean vocalist. Duncan’s contributions, spanning songwriting and vocal dynamics, inject a new vitality into Caliban’s already formidable sound. Rounding out the lineup are longtime members Patrick Grün on drums and Denis Schmidt on guitar.
Back From Hell plunges deep into themes of resilience, internal struggle, and catharsis, brought to life through the band’s signature combination of crushing riffs, guttural screams, and haunting melodies.
With modern production underlining their rawness, this promises to be one of their most ambitious releases yet.
The album’s lead single and title track, “Back From Hell,” premiered today alongside a hard-hitting video directed by Mirko Witzki (Witzki Vision). The track also features Jonny McBee of The Browning, whose searing performance amplifies the song’s visceral impact.
“‘Back From Hell’ is a declaration of survival,” the band shares. “It’s about facing your deepest fears and coming out stronger on the other side. This song reflects the struggle of rising from darkness, fighting your way back from rock bottom, and refusing to accept defeat. We wanted it to be a raw, aggressive anthem for anyone who’s ever felt trapped but found the strength to break free.”
