EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY to go different on their next album

1 min read

Mark Smith of EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY revealed in a recent interview that there will be a change in the musical direction of their next album.

He explains:

I think our next album will be our most liberating. We’ve decided to not let ourselves be hampered by production values. After listening to a slew of black metal and blackglaze bands, we realize you don’t need to actually have production values. So we’ve decided to record everything in mono, with crazy level differentials between instruments, and straight to a cassette tape. We’ll then copy it onto another cassette tape, crinkle it a little bit, and then finally digitize it. In an age where it’s so easy to make a song sound professional, we’re going to flip the industry on its head!
