Gab De La Vega explores “Innocence” and impermanence ahead of U.S. Tour

3 mins read

Our long-time friend Gab De La Vega returns to our pages with significant news: the release of his new music video for “Immortal” and the commencement of his U.S. solo acoustic tour.

De La Vega, the Italian singer-songwriter known for blending raw authenticity with his punk roots, embarks on a journey that intertwines the simplicity of childhood with profound reflections on life.

Immortal,” a track from his latest album Life Burns, has organically resonated with listeners, amassing over 18,000 plays on Spotify within six months—even without being a designated single. Recognizing its impact, De La Vega crafted a special music video that diverges from typical band portrayals. Directed by Simone Piccinelli, guitarist of The Open Cages—De La Vega’s backing band—the video follows a young boy navigating the adventures of everyday life.

“It’s a very personal and intimate song,” De La Vega shares. “Simone’s vision was to concentrate on the hopes, innocence, and simplicity of childhood. We cast Andrea, the son of our former drummer Cello and his partner Greta, adding another layer of depth to the track by including close friends and loved ones.”

The video creates a poignant contrast between the carefree spirit of youth and the song’s introspective themes, emphasizing the fleeting nature of life and the enduring pursuit of meaning. Without featuring himself or his band, De La Vega allows the narrative to unfold through the eyes of a child, reinforcing the universal journey of growth and discovery.

In conjunction with the video’s release, De La Vega sets off on a 19-show solo acoustic tour across the United States from November 7th to 26th. Covering both the East and West Coasts, he will perform alongside artists like Black Guy Fawkes on select dates. This tour marks his return to U.S. stages, bringing the essence of Life Burns to a broader audience.

“It’s been a while, U.S.! I’m thrilled to return and play some cities for the first time, as well as revisit a few favorites. Everyone involved has been incredibly supportive, especially Andy at Sell The Heart Records. This tour wouldn’t be possible without him. I’m beyond excited to bring the songs from Life Burns to you in this solo acoustic setting,” De La Vega remarks.

His career, spanning over a decade, includes performances across Europe, North and South America, and Canada. Sharing stages with artists like Frank Turner, Against Me!, Laura Jane Grace, and PUP, he has solidified his place in the international underground music scene. Notably, in 2022, Frank Turner personally invited him to perform at the Lost Evenings Festival in Berlin.

Life Burns, released by SBÄM Records in collaboration with Sell The Heart Records (USA), Epidemic Records, Motorcity Produzioni, and Overdrive Records (Italy), continues to build on De La Vega’s commitment to authentic expression. The album has already taken him across various European countries, and now it’s set to make its mark in the U.S.
