Seattle’s industrial-punk trio HAUNTED HORSES has dropped a new video for “Dweller on the Threshold,” an unsettling preview of their upcoming album Dweller.
Set to release on January 10th, 2025, via Three One G Records, this record promises to push deeper into existential dread, self-oblivion, and transformation, themes that have defined the band’s chaotic and dissonant sound.
Recorded and mixed by Robert Cheek at ExEx Studios and mastered by Eric Broyhill, Dweller will be available digitally and on limited edition color vinyl.
The album builds on the trio’s evolution, with bassist Brian McClelland adding even more intensity to the sonic textures crafted by founding members Colin Dawson and Myke Pelly.
Their prior releases, including The Worst Has Finally Happened and Dead Meat, earned acclaim for their dark soundscapes and thematic depth, drawing comparisons to SWANS, BAUHAUS, and KILLING JOKE.
“Some believe the Dweller on the Threshold is the shadow self, or the lower self a manifestation of who you have been. The Ego that clings to self identity, which prevents growth.” the band shares in an exclusive commentary.
Inspired by meditations in the hypnagogic state—a space between wakefulness and dreaming—the album dives into abstract imagery and scenarios.
“The lyrics in this song were inspired by a dream where I was at the bottom of a well with a growing shadow presence.”
“Dweller on the Threshold,” is the descent into the album’s eerie core, with lyrics born from a dream of being trapped at the bottom of a well, haunted by a growing shadow presence.
Stay tuned for a full track-by-track exclusive closer to the release date, where HAUNTED HORSES will share more about the hypnotic states and sonic experiments that shaped Dweller.
For now, embrace the shadow and step closer to the Threshold.
