A GoFundMe campaign has been created by Incendiary drummer Daniel Lomeli to cover the costs of a necessary hernia surgery.
The need for medical intervention became pressing after years of carrying his child up and down stairs, a routine that put increasing strain on his condition. Lomeli, who has been out of steady work for two years but has still managed to stay on top of his bills, explained that this procedure would wipe out most of his savings.
The goal of the campaign is to help him cover these costs and prevent further financial difficulties.
In his public statements, Lomeli described America’s healthcare system as “an absolute joke,” indicating that this hernia had been dormant until daily childcare demands pushed it to a critical point. He stressed that if it hadn’t been addressed now, it could have led to an emergency down the line. Though he’s typically the one helping others, he’s now asking for whatever support friends, family, and the broader community can offer.
After the surgery, he shared an update saying everything had gone smoothly, though the coming weeks of recovery would require him to avoid lifting anything over ten pounds. Lomeli acknowledged the difficulty of simple tasks such as walking or getting up from a seated position and noted that his partner, Sarah, had to return to work soon, compounding the challenges at home. Despite these hurdles, he expressed immense gratitude for the outpouring of support and emphasized how it would make the next stage of recovery far more manageable. He thanked all contributors, assuring them that their generosity would not be forgotten. Those interested can still visit his GoFundMe page to learn more and show their support.
