Today, it might seem surprising, but despite the abundance of incredible underground releases and the much-needed diversity in the alternative music scene, we’re writing about OASIS and LINKIN PARK. The latter, though not a typical focus of IDIOTEQ, holds significant influence over many independent artists. We can’t deny their impact.

LINKIN PARK has been teasing fans with a series of cryptic announcements, fueling speculation about their next big move. After a 100-hour countdown on their website concluded on August 28, fans were left with more questions than answers. Instead of a definitive statement, the countdown reset, leaving a brief glimpse of the numbers “09:05,” hinting at something significant on September 5.

As expected, LINKIN PARK later confirmed that a major announcement is indeed scheduled for September 5. Accompanying this was a message inviting fans to “be part of something,” which has only added to the anticipation.

The band has also sent out mysterious emails to members of the LINKIN PARK Underground (LPU) fan club, inviting them to a special event in Los Angeles on the same day. This exclusive event, taking place from 12:30pm to 5:30pm, is accessible only to those with a valid Passport Plus membership.

Speculation about the nature of the announcement has been rife.

Rumors of a LINKIN PARK reunion have been circulating since earlier this year, with some sources suggesting that the band might introduce a new lead vocalist to fill the void left by the late Chester Bennington.

In April, Jay Gordon of ORGY hinted that LINKIN PARK might be returning with a female vocalist, though he quickly retracted his statement.

Despite the uncertainty, fans are hopeful that the September 5 event could be the band’s first live performance with a new singer.

The band’s co-founder, Mike Shinoda, has been cautious in addressing these rumors, reiterating that any official news would come directly from LINKIN PARK’s website. He has emphasized that until an official announcement is made, any information circulating should be taken with a grain of salt.

Adding to the excitement, LINKIN PARK recently released a greatest hits album, Papercuts (Singles Collection: 2000–2023), which serves as a reminder of the band’s monumental impact on the rock and heavy music scene.
