Written back in 2017, recorded, mixed and mastered by Christian Carvin at All Production Studio, and relesased almost one year ago via a number of great DIY labels Bad Mood Asso, Crapoulet Records, TimTam Records, We Are Sharks Records, Bartolini Records, ’59SRS, French Noise, Panda Records, and Culture Famine, the recent LP from Marseille punk rock act THE SOBERS just received the newest music video and we’re thrilled to give you the first watch above! Check it out, read the official word from the band and scroll down to check out their upcoming live dates!
Tom’s girlfriend, Illys, wrote this song. It’s about a person who wants to take some revenge on another one (we don’t know why..). A third people is trying to stop it. We don’t really know if it’s purely fictional, or a true story for Illys, but it’s pretty scary, don’t you think? Haha! This story allows a great rotation between Paul and Tom’s voices.
‘’The Sobers IV’’ is the first album written and recorded by the band with their new guitarist, Tom. The biggest change beside the previous records is that Tom is the first guitar player in the band who really shares vocals with Paul (bass). Wich adds more relief to the songs.
The album has been composed current 2018, during some practice sessions. The band recorded the music at All Production Studio (St André d’Embrun), during the summer of 2018, engineered by Christian Carvin (an old friend who had already worked on the band’s first album). Then, the guys went back to Marseille, at Paul’s recording studio (Coffee Mug Studio), to write and records lyrics. Lastly, the album has been mixed and mastered by Christian Carvin.
Lyrics are mainly about band members personal life: lived experiences, frequently negative haha! Most of the texts are a form of “therapy” for the guy who wrote it. For the rest, it’s a bunch of observations about modern society, and funny stories (about hair loss, parenthood for example..).
Additional instruments & vocals: Organ on Light The Match played by El Gecko. Ju sang lead vocals on Figure It Out and Jeff sang lead vocals on Baldness Goddess. Illys and Ju sang backing and gang vocals on lots of tunes. JC (drums) made graphic design and layouts for the album. Interesting fact: a set of 300 LPs has been edited with an handmade / numbered screen-printed folder (thanks to “Les Éclairs” for the help).
