Melogaze act VISION ETERNEL shares new Valentine’s Day special

1 min read

For Alexander Julien, the mind behind Vision Eternel, Valentine’s Day isn’t just another date on the calendar. It’s a marker, a thread running through the project’s history, even when releases didn’t land on time. This year, there’s no new album, but there is Moments Of September (Reprise)—an unearthed fragment, recorded and forgotten, now given space to breathe.

Originally written for Echoes From Forgotten Hearts in 2014, the track was part of a larger idea—a single, continuous composition meant to span seven to ten minutes. That plan unraveled when the material was rearranged for a film score, breaking the long-form piece into smaller sections. Pièce No. Sept was one of them. Years later, during early demo sessions for For Farewell Of Nostalgia in 2017, Julien found himself revisiting these pieces, playing them in rehearsal, testing their weight. By mid-2018, he considered restoring them to their original form. Moments Of September was recorded as part of this effort, but only in demo form. It never made it to the final release.

There was, however, a second version. On July 19, 2018, during the same session as Moments Of Neglection (Reprise), a new arrangement was recorded—quieter, stripped down. This reprise almost surfaced as a hidden track on a vinyl edition of For Farewell Of Nostalgia, but the record deal never materialized. Six years later, it resurfaces as a small, understated offering for those who have followed Vision Eternel’s winding path.

Accompanying the track is an original colored pencil drawing by Rain Frances, whose artwork has become intertwined with Vision Eternel’s releases. She’s illustrated past covers, including Echoes From Forgotten Hearts (Deluxe Edition) and For Farewell Of Nostalgia, as well as the An Anthology Of Past Misfortunes boxed set. Her work, much like Julien’s music, captures something fleeting—a moment of reflection, a delicate sadness.

Vision Eternel’s tradition continues, even without a full release. Moments Of September (Reprise) is a quiet nod to an unfinished past, a piece left behind that never truly disappeared.
