Nashville, TN tech death rising stars INFERI have released their bludgeoning new album Vile Genesis on The Artisan Era. Vile Genesis (recorded, mixed and mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Studio) packs a walloping amount of technical brutality into its eight tracks, while retaining an approachable melodic sensibility similar to bands like The Black Dahlia Murder.
Singles “Mesmeric Horror”, “Simian Hive” and eponymous “Vile Genesis” set the stage for the bands vision of death metal, equal parts complex and melodic with enough masterful playing from each member to hold the attention of even the most discerning riff critic. The album hurtles forward with a level of speed and intensity that seems almost breakneck at times, but the band is able to switch their style to angular and head-bang worthy on a dime. The true strength of Vile Genesis comes not only from the groups mastery of the almighty riff, but also from their ability to write a compelling song – which they’ve done here eight times over. They ultimately fall into the clutches of their eldest Anunnaki ancestor, an eidolon driven by vengeance to sculpt his dominion across the constellations. This record is not a continuation. INFERI is Malcom Pugh (guitar, backing vocals), Mike Low (guitar), Stevie Boiser (vocals), Andrew Kim (bass) and Spencer Moore (drums).
INFERI is an American technical melodic death metal band forged from the depths of Nashville, Tennessee. Upon their resurrection in 2011 like a phoenix from the ash, the 2014 release of “The Path of Apotheosis” spread like wildfire gaining worldwide attention. That legendary flame was soon fueled by the thunderous firestorm of their 2018 release entitled “Revenant”. Featuring legends such as Trevor Strnad from The Black Dahlia Murder and the shred god James Malone from Arsis, “Revenant” landed at #26 Hard Rock albums and #28 on the Billboard’s Heatseekers charts solidifying them as a household name in the underground technical death metal scene. This led them to embark on several tours across the world with bands such Rivers of Nihil, Archspire, Shadow of Intent, Signs of the Swarm, Brand of Sacrifice, Obscura, and more.
