Nostalgic punk rockers FAKEYOU capture obsession and collapse in “All About You”

1 min read

Montreal’s own FakeYou just let loose “All About You” via 59 X Records — a fever dream of a single that turns fixation into cinema, heartbreak into pulse, and devotion into something that cuts a little too close to the skin.

It’s the kind of track that feels written from the middle of a fever. The band calls it “a raw and emotionally charged track about obsession, devotion, and the aftermath of losing someone who defined your entire existence.”

Told through sharp lyrics and a melancholic but steady pulse, “All About You” drags you through the aftermath of love that burned too hard and too long. The tension sits in how it sounds — both heavy and fragile, driven yet sinking. It’s the second single from FakeYou’s upcoming debut album, due in March 2026 and recorded, mixed, and mastered by Max Lajoie, known for his work with Spite House.

The video we’re premiering above, directed and produced by the band’s lead singer, plays like an open wound stitched with old film. “It’s less a literal story and more a visceral journey through memory, madness, and longing,” the band explains. It cuts between black-and-white fragments: a prisoner gripping bars, sudden flashes of violence, horse races, gamblers, circus clowns, sea storms. Each clip hits like a thought you can’t shake. “Chaotic, beautiful, and haunted,” they say — and it fits.

Two more singles are on the way before the album drops. For now, FakeYou are keeping close to home, playing shows around Montreal and planning a spring run across Canada with hopes of crossing into the U.S. next.

The band doesn’t hide their pride in the local scene either. “Montreal’s punk scene is wild — maybe the most packed per capita anywhere,” they say. “It’s got a strong DIY vibe, cheap shows, and venues ranging from classic bars to weird spots like the Van Horne Underpass. With over twenty venues and festivals like Pouzza Fest, there’s always something going on. New bands have to hustle, but that’s just part of being in a scene that’s alive and thriving.”

All About You” feels like that kind of release — not polished for the radio, but cut straight from what’s real. It’s obsession turned into sound, love twisted through loss, and another reminder that Montreal’s underground still knows how to feel something loud.
