Onelinedrawing, the intimate and evocative solo project by Jonah Matranga, is releasing a new album titled Sketchbook 1999–2001 today! This release, marking a significant moment for both Jonah and his fans, brings a cherished collection of songs from the turn of the millennium to vinyl for the first time.
Scheduled for a physical release on May 10, 2024, the album encapsulates a period that Jonah describes as full of genuine, spontaneous creation.
These songs, crafted between 1999 and 2001, span a range of emotions from sadness to silliness, reflecting Jonah’s explorative approach to songwriting during these years. This era was pivotal, not just in Jonah’s career but also in shaping the sounds of emo and post-hardcore music.
The physical edition, a double LP, will be released under Iodine Recordings with the catalog number IOD-57.
A notable feature of this release is a 12-page zine penned by Norman Brannon of Anti-Matter Zine and Texas is the Reason. This addition offers fans deeper insights into the music and its background, enriching the listening experience with stories and perspectives from those early years.
Jonah’s reflections on the tracks reveal a personal journey intertwined with his creative process.
He speaks candidly about the song “Better Than This,” which served as a personal anthem during a challenging phase of his life. This song, like many others on the album, showcases Jonah’s ability to translate personal strife into universal themes, resonating deeply with listeners.
In addition to the album release, Jonah is gearing up for a busy tour schedule. He will be performing in the United States during the spring and in Europe over the summer.
