Sludge post metallers WREN share new single “Scorched Hinds”

January 14, 2025
1 min read

Post-metal juggernaut Wren returns with Scorched Hinds, the latest single from their highly anticipated album Black Rain Falls, set to drop on February 21, 2025, via Church Road Records.

Following the crushing intensity of their first single, Metric of Grief, the band continues to expand their sonic arsenal with a track that hits like a relentless bulldozer, pushing boundaries with its dark and suffocating heaviness.

Drawing inspiration from modern titans of slow, esoteric metal such as Sumac, BIG|BRAVE, and Divide and Dissolve, Wren has taken a deliberate approach to crafting their sound for this record.

Their earlier single Metric of Grief showcased a shift toward more thoughtful songwriting and stripped-back layering, bringing a raw human intensity to their music. With Scorched Hinds, they continue down this path, delivering a track that feels more like an onslaught than a song—crushing riffs and bleak atmospheres collide, leaving little room for escape.

Fans of Light Bearer, Fall of Efrafa, and BIG|BRAVE will find much to appreciate in Wren’s unapologetic heaviness and their ability to unnerve while staying grounded in deeply human themes.

The evocative album artwork, crafted by Tobias Holmbeck, sets the tone for what promises to be a deeply immersive experience. As the February release date approaches, Wren’s latest offering ensures their position as one of the most compelling forces in contemporary post-metal.
