On September 27th, UK metalcore pack HERIOT will release their debut album, Devoured by the Mouth of Hell, through Century Media. Recorded with Josh Middleton (Sylosis, Architects) and GRAMMY Award-winning Will Putney (END, Fit For An Autopsy, Better Lovers), the album is ten songs of pure intensity.
Today the band shares the crushing “At the Fortress Gate,” following singles “Foul Void” and “Siege Lord.” The video for “At the Fortress Gate” is directed by the band’s long-time collaborator Harry Steel and filmed at HERIOT’s performances this summer at Hellfest, Jera on Air, Download Festival, Resurrection, Rock Am Ring and Rock im Park.
On the song, the band shares: “’At the Fortress Gate’ explores the experience of being trapped within a regime, battling against overwhelming forces, feeling powerless, and reflecting on the immense suffering endured by humanity.”
HERIOT debuted in 2022 with the Profound Morality EP (Church Road Records), catching the attention of Century Media who first joined forces with the band in late 2023 for single “Soul Chasm.”
The band’s rise in the UK lead to a sold out headline tour and performances to packed tents at festivals like Download and 2000trees.
On Devoured by the Mouth of Hell, HERIOT sound as raw and direct as ever, yet there’s a refinement that can only come from their sheer drive to make something worthy of all the hype around them.
Throughout the record, the band has weaponized metallic sludge and hardcore, unholy levels of distortion, speed and gut-punching talent. Fully-focused and with a razor-sharp edge, the awe-inspiring double-vocal attack of Jake Packer and Debbie Gough is all-conquering; the titanic support of Erhan Alman (guitar) and Julian Gage (drums) rock-solid. In short, Devoured by the Mouth of Hell is set to be a mammoth debut for HERIOT.
