Featuring members of Thin and Black Matter Device, Richmond, Virginia’s Terror Cell erupted in 2019. These guys started in a grimy, mold-ridden basement beneath a tattoo parlor, self-recording their blistering 20-minute metallic hardcore EP, “Last Day of Sun.” This raw and filthy beginning set the tone for their no-holds-barred approach to heavy music.
A few pandemic-ravaged years later, Terror Cell dropped their first full-length LP, “Caustic Light,” via Fisher King Records in 2022. This album marked a shift from their hardcore and sludge roots, veering into the chaotic realms of screamo and post-metal. Their relentless evolution and ferocious sound highlight their drive to push the boundaries of what heavy music can be.
Today, August 6th, Terror Cell is unleashing their latest single, “Come and See.” It’s heir second release of 2024, continues their dive into the abyss, heavily influenced by Richmond screamo titans like pageninetynine, Majority Rule, and City of Caterpillar.
“Come and See” will be part of their upcoming album, “All Quiet,” set to drop between late 2024 and early 2025.
The title pays homage to the 1928 novel “All Quiet on the Western Front,” with the track itself ripping apart the romanticized bullshit of war perpetuated by military propaganda. Terror Cell exposes the ugly, brutal truths of war, using their music to spit in the face of societal glorification.
The album’s artwork and single visuals are a gritty collaboration with the artist Miriam (she/they), known on Instagram as @rubber___mallet. Miriam’s raw and evocative pieces will drape the album, adding a visceral layer to the band’s unfiltered message.
Released through guitarist/vocalist Joey Woodard’s Fisher King Records, “All Quiet” will be available on vinyl, with tapes and CDs in cahoots with Soft Grit Recordings and Shopping Cart Hero Records. This strategy ensures their gnarly tunes hit a wide audience, catering to die-hard fans of various formats.
Terror Cell is set to wreck the stage at Banned in DMV Fest in McClean, Virginia, on Sunday, August 11th, alongside Pulses, Age of Ruin, and more. This live slaughter promises to be a ferocious display of their new material, embodying the raw power of the Richmond scene.
