British metalcore band POLAR are gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album, Five Arrows, slated for November 22 under Arising Empire. Known for a decade-plus career filled with high-energy shows and a powerful sound, POLAR’s new work promises a fresh iteration of their established intensity, yet honed by years of resilience and transformation.
The album, self-produced with Jack Murphy at Crystal Sound Studios, will be supported with a UK tour. To celebrate the upcoming gigs, POLAR has put together a special list of essentials they need to get on stage—though they’ve occasionally forgotten a few of them in the past.
Ahead of the album release, POLAR has unleashed a series of hard-hitting singles and videos, with the latest being “Unkillable.”
The track, underscored by its title, conveys a message of indestructibility and resilience—a feeling that emerged strongly when the band reunited with renewed purpose. Vocalist Adam Woodford encapsulates this sentiment, explaining: “We came up with the concept for ‘Unkillable’ when the band regrouped and became what POLAR is today. There was an indestructible feeling amongst us, and we were all inspired by that feeling… We all agreed on the title ‘Unkillable’ as we had survived death, and the band had returned with a newfound desire to live.”
In addition to “Unkillable,” the band has also shared videos for “Paranoia” (featuring Cage Fight), “We Won’t Sleep,” and “Swimming With Sharks.”
Each single exemplifies their knack for combining visceral lyrics with a relentless, yet melodic sound of a fine production—a style they’ve mastered and made their own since their formation in 2009.
Over the years, POLAR has brought this energy to stages across Europe and the UK, having performed at top festivals like Resurrection Festival and sharing stages with renowned acts like PARKWAY DRIVE, NORTHLANE, BEING AS AN OCEAN, and CURRENTS.
POLAR joined us to give you a special list reflecting both the band’s humor and the sometimes chaotic reality of touring, detailing the essentials that, while crucial for their performances, have at times been comically overlooked:
1. Brand new AA batteries
A band member started a show with flat batteries in his transmitter, which proved tricky to work around.
2. Mode of transport
The van we hired for a tour recently was locked in a compound a day before we started, luckily we were saved and the show went on.
3. In ear monitor antenna
That lives in Germany now, we think.
4. Guitar strap
If your string breaks and the spare hasn’t got a strap, a new live playing style is born.
5. Merchandise
Always great to start a tour in Belgium and the merch is in the UK.
6. Band members/crew
The running speed of a band member is unbelievable, when the van is pulling away from a service station without them.
7. Paying for petrol
Filling up and calmly driving away, still gains police attention but they luckily knew it was an accident and the money was paid. No theft was made.
8. Backdrop
Ours recently came back from a little vacation in Belgium, apparently it was staying at a bar there.
9. Working Amp
The walk of shame off the stage when it breaks mid show, can be a bitter pill to swallow.
10. Passport
We lost a passport 24 hours before leaving for a tour in Europe and pulled it off by getting another one just by the skin of our teeth.
