6 bands fueling Melbourne’s melodic punk scene by ALL HOPE REMAINS

1 min read

The decline in Melbourne’s live music venues from over 5,000 to around 3,000 marked a significant shift for the city’s once-vibrant music culture. However, rather than signaling the end, it has become a moment of recalibration. In the current climate, bands are emerging with a clear nod to Melbourne’s punk legacy, while adapting to the challenges of a changing scene.

For the past five years, All Hope Remains has been delivering fast, melodic skate punk across Australia. Their energetic live performances have built a reputation for getting audiences engaged from the first note, mixing elements of rock, punk, and hardcore.

Tony from All Hope Remains notes the significance of both longstanding and modern acts, who continue to draw large crowds and maintain their relevance.

The scene’s rebuilding effort is not solely about nostalgia for the past but is fueled by the willingness of newer venues to support both emerging and established acts.

With their recent signing to Pee Records and the release of their album Find My Way, All Hope Remains finds itself navigating the intersection of the old and the new in Melbourne’s punk rock landscape.

Yet, despite their success, All Hope Remains approaches their role with a measured perspective. They see themselves as contributors to the scene’s gradual recovery, rather than its leaders. “It all points to an awesome local scene being created,” Tony reflects, “and it is only going to get bigger.”

Here are some of Melbourne’s bands All Hope Remains dig, in their own words.

Bodyjar – Punkrock legends we’ve been listening to for years.

Mindsnare – one of the best live shows of raw hardcore/metal. The most influential hardcore act to come out of Australia.

Judo Chop – face melting riff lords with a tech edge.

Awake Now – rocking punk vibes, think boysetsfire meets thrice.

Quaid – Emo punk with sweet melodies.

Relays – Bogan punk that tells it how it is.

All Hope Remains is gearing up for their Find My Way album release tour, with 11 shows across three states and territories.

Expect fast punk, good vibes, and plenty of beers as they bring their high-energy performances to fans from Port Kembla to Geelong.
