10 music videos worth a check: KEVLAR BIKINI share their picks; premiere new video for “Oozing Optimism”

1 min read

The video for the song “Oozing Optimism” is a direct continuation of the story from KEVLAR BIKINI‘s previous video “Quench“. From writing and directing, camera work, lighting, post-production and even catering, the band continues its DIY practice with doing everything on their own. The angelic vocals in the song were contributed by “Crne Zvjezdice” – Zora and Alex, the offspring of proud father Geenger Six, the big kahuna of Geenger Records. There’s also a cameo appearance by Mrs. Nada, the bass player’s mom. The song is the fourth single off of the album “OPT-OUTism”, freshly released by Geenger Records.

OPT-OUTism“, presented through this special feature here on IDIOTEQ, is available on vinyl in two versions (splatter/marbled and clear) and digitally. Order “OPT-OUTism” HERE.

To celebrate the new video, we have teamed up with the band’s vocalist Mario Berta to give you his 10 of his currently favorite vids, in no particular order:

La Caution – Batards de Barbares

The song is in French, the language of love, so i can’t understand a word they’re saying but frankly I don’t even care. Vile, violent and vicious. The guy in the intro even speaks a little Croatian.

Fidlar – Cocaine

Just good clean fun. An overall zero fucks given video.

Idles – Mercedes Marxist

A headbanger, literally. Simple but very effective idea, fits real good with the song.

Justice – Stress

Aesthetic of violence, executed beautifully. It has “La Haine” quality to it. It leaves you with that “Is this for real?” feeling the first time you see it.

Viagra Boys – Ain’t Nice

This one hits real close to home for me haha. Another zero fucks given video.

Black Lips – Boys in the Wood

Debauchery, deviance and a baseball bat to the head. Cool atmosphere and, khmm, stuff you don’t see every day…well, I suppose it depends where you’re looking.

Šajzerbiterlemon – Metak

Some serious Ex-YU cinematography vibes from our label mates.

UNKLE – Rabbit In Your Headlights

Denis Lavant working on his immunity to car hits in a tunnel, what’s not to like?!

Slaves – Cheer Up London

One of the few cool choreographed videos, if that’s even possible.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Bring It On

I’ve read somewhere, a while ago, that the video guy asked Cave “What do you want to make video about?” and Cave asked “What the videos look like on MTV this days?”, the guy said “A bunch of black girls shaking their asses to the camera.”, so Cave replied “Ok, let’s do that!”. Video that definitely gives a whole new dimension to the song. Pre-Motherload-ish.
