In the midst of the emo revival that took the United States by storm in the 2000s and 2010s, Japan had their own renaissance. Leading the charge was Malegoat, a band with their signature twinkly guitars, shouty vocals, and flashy drums. The band was unstoppable, sharing the stage with heavyweights like Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) and Braid on their respective Japan tours, and even venturing to the US to tour with Algernon Cadwallader during their heyday.
The band’s first record, “Plain Infiltration,” which had only previously been available on CD, is now set for release for the first time ever on vinyl and digitally on all streaming platforms. The album is a true masterpiece that showcases the band’s incredible talent and unique sound, blending high energy math rock with emo punk and melodic hardcore.
Co-released by Count Your Lucky Stars (US), Waterslide Records (Japan), Voice of the Unheard (France), and New Granada, “Plain Infiltration” is finally out today!
