Richmond, Virginia’s HOLD TIGHT! have teamed up once again with Animal Style Records to drop a surprise digital EP just in time for Fest 13. The six song offering, titled I Always Leave But Never Say Goodbye, is available for pay-what-you-want download via Bandcamp for the rest of October.
I Always Leave But Never Say Goodbye sees HOLD TIGHT! fully realizing the potential shown on their 2012 full length, Blizzard Of ’96. The band’s lightning fast hardcore beats have been traded in for huge guitar riffs and a more dynamic sound, but without losing an ounce of catchiness of sincerity. Vocalist/bassist James Goodson’s self depreciating lyrics venture into darker territory than on past releases, but never stifle the unbridled sense of fun.
While the tempos may have calmed down, the energy coursing through these six tracks is higher than ever. With it’s charging and raw production, courtesy of Chris Compton at Broadscope Studios, I Always Leave But Never Say Goodbye perfectly demonstrates a band willing to push their boundaries without abandoning the core of their sound; loud energetic punk rock to shout along to with your best friends.
