Psych-metallers EIGHT BELLS reveal new song

January 28, 2016
1 min read

EIGHT BELLSย presents “Touch Me,” the third new song to be revealed off sophomore albumย Landless,ย now streaming exclusively viaย CVLT Nation magazine and below. The bandย embarks on a US tour tonight, including three weeks supporting the legendaryย VOIVOD. See the details below.

From Portland, Oregon, Eight Bells consists of guitarist/vocalist Melynda Jackson, formerly of SubArachnoid Space, bassist/vocalist Haley Westeiner, and drummer Rae Amitay, also of Immortal Bird.

The trio summons an otherwordly sound โ€“ ethereal vocals, soaring guitars, and ghostly ambience evoke ’70s prog-rock grandeur and Victorian mystery; blastbeats and screams bring the music into a modern, blackened realm. A recent review on MetalSucks compared the band to Pink Floyd and Ulver. CVLT Nation calls Landless an early contender for “one of the best releases of 2016.”

Sophomore album Landless was recorded and mixed by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Leviathan) and mastered by Justin Weis (Pallbearer, Agalloch).ย Pre-order Landless from Battleground Records, ahead of its February 12th release date, here.

“Amazed at how much it moved me…ย Landlessย is going to be one of the best releases of 2016.”
โ€“CVLT Nation

“Landlessย is a tour-de-force… out-there progression, ethereal atmosphere, and unexpected harmonies.”
โ€“Noisey

“Jackson’s chiming and piercing guitar tone evokes The Edge’s celebratory playing style. She and Westeiner employ two-part harmonies, the sort often used in medieval choir music… Their jagged, sometimes Slint-like approach to songwriting, and their assonant sining make their songs obscure… I find myself obsessed with the surface of Eight Bells’ music, curious what lies beneath.”
