Washington, DC’s pop punk rock band AMERICAN TELEVISION just put out a 2-song release featuring the songs “Optimist” and “Dead & Gone”. These boys are nothing groundbraking, but they are surely catchy, enjoyable and remind you your favorite 90s pop punk tunes. Find the new record “Let’s Play Two” below and enjoy the last days of Summer with AMERICAN TELEVISION!
Recently returning to the DC scene with a fuller sound and a tighter set, American Television has played for full rooms at Galaxy Hut, The Velvet Lounge, and DC’s Favorite DIY spot, The Dougout. ‘Let’s Play Two’ is a prime example of their new sound with nods back to the 90’s pop-punk they grew up on and melodic punk that any Fest-goer would be stoked on.
American Television will be playing weekend dates along the east coast in support of this digital release and are planning a quick follow up to it early next year. Songs are available for pay what you want at Bandcamp and will be made available for streaming very soon.
Lyrics:
I should kick myself for being such an optimist
like a bug into a web, I fly right into itIt’s my character to be positive
And although it’s fucking obvious
I never learnbut the truth is written on the walls tonight
and I don’t know what it means
forget the past an open mind
OptimistThe proof is pounding on the doors outside
but it’s falling on deaf ears
forget the past an open mind
OptimistIf I pinch myself maybe i’ll snap out of it
Like the trust of a child, I forgive and forgetIt’s my character to be positive
And although it’s fucking obvious
I never learnIt’s seldom people change
as time ticks by, so much of the sameIt’s my character to be positive
Although the script is obvious
I’ll never learn
