I am greatly honored to give you the official premiere of “Intermundia”, the newest work from SANGHARSHA and BLANK, two monumental post metal/hardcore acts capable of straddling the line between tailored complexity and intimate emotions. Check out the official word, the full stream of the split record and the details of their upcoming US trek below! It’s extremely impressive!
The good guys from SANGHARSHA have released their critically acclaimed album “Bayou” early last year – go here to check it out.
In other news, both bands are already working on plans for the future. SANGHARSHA have just recorded two new songs with Colin Marston for a split with THERA ROYA from New Jersey, that will be out in Winter this year. Having returned from a 4-day Easter tour with their friends in GHOSTCHANT, BLANK have finally started writing songs for their second full-length LP, to be detailed very soon!
Here’s the official press release:
Within the vast and often chaotic global network that is the DIY Hardcore scene, like-minded bands may often exist for years without even being aware of each other. When their paths finally cross though, even under the most coincidental circumstances, strong and very fruitful alliances may be forged instantly.
This is exactly what was set into motion when SANGHARSHA, a NYC-based band consisting of four Nepali guys, released their first full-length ‘Bayou’ on German DIY label Alerta Antifascista. The album’s unique take on crushing, dark Hardcore and its massive production – courtesy of Kurt Ballou/God City Studio – caught the attention of BLANK, a Negative Hardcore outfit from Cologne/Solingen. Facebook-messages were interchanged, records sent across the Atlantic Ocean and common grounds were soon discovered. Setting out together for a musical endeavor was only a natural step.
Both bands’ collaboration will see the light of day on May 27th in the form of a split LP entitled ‘Intermundia’. Whereas SANGHARSHA’s new material sounds more diverse and technical, showcasing their entire musical spectrum in songs that seamlessly shift between crushing Hardcore, lengthy instrumental parts and epic build-ups, BLANK descend further into the gaping abyss of all-embracing blackness with their most heavy and massive songs to date. This contrast is beautifully illustrated by a holistic visual concept devised and hand-drawn by Andrew Sloan. The whole affair was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege and will be out on Alerta Antifascista and Holy Goat Records.
