“At What Cost” – Adelaide hardcore pack NO PEACE strikes a chord between fury and reality with new EP

Born from the isolation of Adelaide’s Covid lockdowns, No Peace channels raw, undiluted frustration into their brand of hardcore—a sound steeped in the early 2000s era but sharpened by a modern edge.

Their latest release, “At What Cost“, delivers a gritty reflection on relationships, political outrage, and mental health struggles.

For a band that rose from one of Australia’s smallest cities, No Peace’s drive to break through the geographic barriers is relentless.

“The music industry in Australia is very unique. Our population is small and hardcore is a niche within Australian music,” they explain.

NO PEACE

Long distances between cities only add to the challenge. Yet, they’ve made their mark, playing across major Australian cities and stretching their reach into Southeast Asia, with plans to expand to Japan in 2025.

They’re pushing their music further afield—relying on their partnership with Life.Lair.Regret Records and Set The Fire Records to bridge those gaps.

NO PEACE

At the heart of “At What Cost“, and particularly the track “Some Give All“, lies a sense of betrayal and self-preservation.

“I had some friendships fall apart, and it’s left me with a jaded and pissed off cumulation of emotions,” they share. These emotions fueled the song, with the chorus coming together swiftly while the rest unfolded through deeper reflection. “Some Give All” speaks to a universal experience—watching familiar faces turn into strangers. “It fucking sucks. But it’s taught me not to let people into my life as quickly as I did.”

NO PEACE

This bitterness isn’t without purpose. No Peace’s frontman touches on the importance of being real: “I’ve always been one to give anyone and everyone the time of day, but as I get older I’ve learnt not to look for the good in people; but to find the REAL.”

Sonically, the band’s sound is evolving but remains anchored in hardcore. Their inspiration is unwavering, though they’re exploring how to express it in new ways without straying from their roots.

Fans of bands like Cruel Hand, Carry On, and Down To Nothing will find plenty to connect with here. “If you love the 2000s era of HC, give us a suss”.

“Adelaide’s No Peace return with ‘At What Cost?’, three of their hardest tracks yet, keeping the bounce of Down To Nothing, the crunch of Backtrack and the aggression of Carry On.” – life.lair.regret.records

Looking ahead, No Peace’s 2024 will see them balancing life and music, with a handful of shows and writing sessions on the horizon. Their ambition lies in 2025, with plans to tour outside of Australia and reach new scenes across the world.

In a world where they’re constantly fighting to make their voices heard, No Peace isn’t holding back. “You’re not doing anything worthwhile if you’re not making some enemies along the way, right?” With “At What Cost“, they’ve made it clear: they’re here for the real fight, and they’re not backing down.
