Atmospheric post punks VARSOVIE unveils “Déviation”, a dark journey through two decades of dark craft

1 min read

Dark echoes from the underground resurface—Varsovie presents “Déviation“, a special release available from November 28, 2024, via Icy Cold Records, celebrating nearly 20 years of the band’s existence.

This Grenoble duo, formed in 2005 by Arnault Destal (drums, lyrics, music, art direction) and Grégory Cathérina (vocals, guitars, music), is known for blending post-punk with dark rock, crafting sonic landscapes full of depth and emotion.

Initially intended as an EP recorded in the wake of the album “Pression à froid“, “Déviation” evolved to include 5 covers of artists who significantly influenced Varsovie—Bauhaus, Joy Division, Alain Bashung, Jean-Louis Murat, Siekiera—alongside 5 title tracks from previous albums, all refined with high quality mastering.

The recordings by Benoît Roux at Drudenhaus Studio (Brittany) spanned from August 2008 to July 2023, adding multidimensional depth and history to the release.
