BAD RELIGION, THE OFFSPRING, GREEN DAY and RANCID to do a “Big 4” tour together?

1 min read

Okay, things are getting a little weird. If this new online petition becomes successful, BAD RELIGION, THE OFFSPRING, GREEN DAY and RANCID could actually be doing a tour together named “The Big 4 of ’90s Punk Rock”, based on popularity of the California punk movement.

The petition’s page claims that there were reports last September of a “Big 4 of ’90s Punk Rock” tour being in the works and that it’s inspired by that “Big 4 of Thrash Metal” tour, which featured METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX.

In order to make the “Big 4” tour happen, as quoted in the now-deleted Facebook page,

The goal is to recruit as many members to the you-know-what as possible in order to get all those bands to listen to what we have to say. We want old school punk back. We would love to see this touring lineup record any live concert for a DVD just like Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer did. Another goal is to get the four back together and save punk once again.

Then, Punk Guy, the creator of the petition’s page, responds,

I agree. We do want old school ’90s punk back. Having a “Big 4 of ’90s Punk Rock” tour featuring Bad Religion, The Offspring, Green Day and Rancid all over the world would love and never forget. They’re all amazing bands, they’re icons, they helped shape the ’90s and influenced/inspired many new acts. The tour’s definitely gotta happen.
