There’s been a buzz circulating online about BANE’s new song, “(It’s The) Truth Inside,” but let’s clear the air right away: it’s not a new track. This song is a re-recorded version from their 1999 album “It All Comes Down To This.” Originally released by Equal Vision Records, this album is a staple in the hardcore scene, featuring standout tracks like “Fuck What You Heard” and “Can We Start Again.”

“(It’s The) Truth Inside” starts with a moderate tempo, building tension that pulls you into its dynamic rhythm from the 30-second mark. This intensity lasts almost until the 2-minute mark, concluding with an epic, anthem-like finish that BANE is renowned for. The lyrics delve into themes of self-reflection and accountability, challenging us to confront their inner truths and past actions.

“The mirror is the hardest part, it sees through what you have become,” sings Aaron Bedard, confronting the facade many maintain. The track critiques superficiality and the lingering impact of one’s past, particularly focusing on themes like bullying and self-deception. It’s a powerful reminder of the band’s enduring message of introspection and growth.

BANE is currently on a reunion tour in Europe, kicking off today. Here’s the list of their European tour dates. Following their European stint, BANE will be heading to South America.

After South America, BANE will be performing at major festivals. In September, they will be at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, MA, alongside KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. Early October will see them at Furnace Fest, adding to an already packed lineup with AUGUST BURNS RED, UNDEROATH, and loads of both veteran and modern hardcore bands.

Lyrics:

The mirror is the hardest part
It sees through what you have become
Muscles flexed
Slogans empty
Thoughts picked and sculpted for you

Beneath your clothes, you see it
The truth inside won’t go away
It’s in your eyes, you see it
The truth inside why won’t it go away?

It’s in the eyes of the kids you picked on
Things you’ve done but can’t erase
Schoolyard bully you’re a TV ad
It’s all right there staring at your face

I’d like to take you to that place
Your every action imitates
Far from inside daddy’s safe, suburban home
Where hard is hard and the real killers roam
Do you think you’d last ten minutes
Where the real killers roam?
