Cork-based noise merchants WORN OUT have released their hotly-anticipated sophomore EP, LOW, today via self-release. The EP follows the release of single “Deeper” in July, and comes alongside the announcement of a headline run across Ireland later in 2024, with support from Grief Ritual and Lure In.

LOW delivers a relentless assault of chaotic, razor-sharp metallic hardcore, blending abrasive intensity with dark, atmospheric undertones that leave no room for compromise.

LOW sees WORN OUT embrace the aggressive, abrasive and chaotic aspect of their metallic sound, as well as delving deeper into the more atmospheric side hinted at on their previous releases.

Mixed by Joe Clayton and mastered by Sam Bloor, with the band taking on the majority of the recording themselves, the four-track EP combines a broad range of influences; clashing melody, dissonance & heavy rhythms with a scathing vocal delivery.

Since the release of lead single “Deeper”, the band have gained a significant amount of notoriety, in particular from Alex Baker of Kerrang! Radio, who has since named the group his featured band of the week back in late-July, describing the band as “off the chain” and “unbelievably good.”

This continues a string of critical acclaim for the group, as their debut EP, WASTE, garnered a significant amount of critical praise from the likes of Overdrive.ie (9/10), GBHBL (10/10), Distorted Sound (8/10), as well as MetalSucks, who described the band as having “menacing intensity,” and Heavy Blog Is Heavy, who gave the group the coveted title of “maybe the meanest sounding band in Ireland right now.”

The band have also partnered with Ripcord Records & Death Farm Records for physical releases, with vinyl and cassette tapes available at each store respectively. You can find all physical versions of LOW here.

WORN OUT’s headline Ireland tour kicks off in October, starting in Belfast, then continuing through to Dublin, Limerick, and finishing in band’s native Cork in November.

Since 2017, WORN OUT have made a sizeable impact on the Irish hardcore and metal community. Described as “Razor Sharp Metallic Hardcore” by Distorted Sound, the band have played shows with notable acts such as God Mother, Palm Reader & Conjurer, helping to grow a reputation as a formidable live act from the outset.

Following a string of well-received singles, a debut EP and extensive touring around Ireland, 2022 saw the release of their single “Bridgeburner”, featuring guest vocals from Justin Paul Hill of tech-metal pioneers Sikth. The aftermath continued to cement their reputation as a hard-working DIY band; touring with hardcore/noise icons such as Cro-Mags and Unsane.
