Like many other bands in most of the independent music scenes around the world, WHO I AM have been impacted a lot by the lockdown two years ago. They released their last EP in January just before the Covid outbreak and were forced to cancel their shows with Risk It, Slope, Knuckledust, No Turning Back, but this year, in the post-COVID era, they are stoked to be back with some new music.
“We kept working together during that time, writing new music, rehearsing when we could and we decided to record a song by ourselves as all the studios were closed.” – the band recalls the harsh pandemic times.
“We recorded this at our guitarist’s house, following the advice of some friends (shout out to Etienne), and we decided to contact Nick Jett (Terror, Piece By Piece) to mix and master the song. We’re really happy with the final result and it’s been an honour to work with such a legend of the hardcore scene.”
This song depicts a feeling of urgency and how to deal with a huge amount of stress, anger and fear.
“How to deal with these emotions when you’re losing control? A lot of people have felt more and more anxious during the last two years, this is a song for them. Turn that anxiety into energy and you’ll be unbreakable.”
“It’s been a while we had this single ready to release, waiting for live music to be a thing again.” – admits the band.
Asked about their plans for live shows this year, they admit that they’re quite stoked to be back on the road. “We’re really happy to go back on stage to share our music, plus we’re playing with some very nice bands, 3 days on the road with our good friends Alea Jacta Est from Toulouse. We’re playing two great festival Rhinoferoces Fest in Montaigu and Riip Fest in Tours in July, go check it out, line up is very good.”
“As for our new single, we’re kicking off our live shows again next week, so we just told ourselves – “hey let’s drop this new jam”.”
Lyrics:
It’s a blood rush from my heart to my brain
Pressure is so great, it’s running through my veins
No way to calm down, no way to numb the pain
It’s like I’m drowning, going against the grain
Will I ever find peace or will I go insane
Will I ever fall asleep, will I rest my head
It’s been so long walking under the rain
It’s been so long fighting this curse in vain
Struggling everyday trying to kill my bane
Struggling everyday trying to break the chains
No way to calm down, no way to numb the pain
It’s like I’m drowning, going against the grain
Kill my Bane
Break the chains
It’s been so long fighting this curse in vain
Struggling everyday trying to kill my bane
Struggling everyday trying to break the chain
No way to calm down, no way to numb the pain
It’s like I’m drowning, going against the grain
It’s a blood rush from my heart to my brain
Pressure is so great, it’s running through my veins
Kill my bane
Break the chains
It’s a blood rush from my heart to my brain
Pressure is so great, it’s running through my veins
No way to calm down, no way to numb the pain
It’s like I’m drowning, going against the grai
