Regal Cheer are set to release their second album, Quite Good, on May 2, 2025, via Ugly Twin Recs. The Brighton punk duo—comprising Max Cleworth (guitar/vocals) and Harry Menear (drums/vocals)—strike a chord with their short, punchy tracks that capture the daily grind and fleeting escapes of post-work pints.
The new record delves into themes of societal pressure, mental health, and the erosion of relationships.
In their new single Crumbs, arriving on February 14th with a video release, the band narrates the collapse of a friendship: a tale of believing someone totally understands you until their true colors emerge, rendering the shared positive memories unworthy.
Regal Cheer’s journey began with two EPs, Side Hustle and Overtime, and charity compilation covers before they made an impact with their debut album, Cans, in February 2023. “The passion of Regal Cheer is palpable, with each song propelling forward and feeling as if it might fall apart in the next measure. It’s what I’ll lovingly call drunk-punk, best experienced in a dingy dive bar with your best friends,” noted The Alternative on Cans.
The momentum continued with Big Man Little Man, Strike Partnership, released on February 9, 2024, through Everything Sucks Music. Its lead single, Better Weather Than You, was described by Noizze as “a continuation of the immediate indie punk stylings found within the Brighton duo’s brilliant and criminally undersung debut LP Cans, the track bares further credence to Regal Cheer’s wonderful ability to maximise a modest and minimalist set up to its full effect.”
Having been active on the live circuit since 2021, Regal Cheer have played shows across the UK, sharing stages with acts like Martha, Tigers Jaw, One Step Closer, Pest Control, Fresh, and Muncie Girls. This February, they are touring with Toodles and the Hectic Pity while supporting The None.
Preorders for Quite Good are already open, with options for orange vinyl and an exclusive new shirt. More details and streaming links can be found here.
