BRUTUS return with new single “Paradise”

BRUTUS is one of those bands that once completely reshaped our understanding of certain heavy music subgenres. Their epic approach to song construction, paired with drummer-vocalist Stefanie Mannaerts’ piercing and utterly unique voice, creates a sound that’s as intense as it is haunting.

Yet, I can’t shake the feeling that their style leans heavily on familiar patterns—though, in this case, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s like a potent hit of the very substance we’re addicted to in their music. Originality might not be the point here, and honestly, I’m not sure it needs to be.

Their new track, “Paradise,” written for the Streamz Original drama Putain, is a prime example of what makes BRUTUS irresistible. From the first play this morning, I’ve found myself spinning it repeatedly—a testament to its impact, especially on a Friday, when the flood of new releases can overwhelm even the best efforts.

Recorded at the legendary ICP Studios in Brussels and mixed by Jesse Gander at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, Paradise perfectly captures the moody, introspective energy of the show.

Recorded by Seba at Number Nine Studios in Ghent, mixed by Jesse Gander at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, the track will also be part of a limited 10” EP, out via the band’s own Unison Drive Records.

Pre-orders kick off on November 29th through Evil Greed, with early copies available at their sold-out Ancienne Belgique shows.

In other news, BRUTUS was a part of “The Shape of Punk to Come Obliterated” – the 12-song tribute album to Swedish hardcore legends Refused. Listen to our version of “The Deadly Rhythm” HERE.

Lyrics:

Another day goes by and I’m still here
And I am feeling lost inside
Everyone is stuck in their own head
Paradise is a state of mind

When I’ll die I’ll make up my own bed
All my friends are dead inside
Paradise is a state of mind

Another day went by and I’m still here
And I am feeling lost inside
When I’ll die I’ll make up my own bed
All my friends are dead inside

Another day went by and I’m still here
And I am feeling lost inside
Everyone is stuck in their own head
Paradise is a compromise

Yeah

When I’ll die I’ll make up my own bed
When I’ll die I’ll make up my own bed
When I’ll die I’ll make up my own bed
When I’ll die I’ll make up my own bed
