Canberra’s post-punk infused punk rockers, The Narcissists are set to release “Shallow Hearts,” the lead single from their upcoming sophomore EP, “Another Day of Poison.” The trio, known for their psychedelic-surf origins, has transitioned into a more stripped-back sound, enriched by motorik rhythms and gritty textures.

In tandem with the new single, The Narcissists have also unveiled their inaugural music video, directed by burgeoning Canberra filmmaker, James Foulds. The band took an unconventional approach for this video, opting to set aside their instruments and instead focus on narrative and thematic development.

“Our goal was to explore something new. We decided to leave our instruments out of the video, focusing instead on storytelling. We aimed to create a short film as a thematic continuation of the single,” the band shared.

The result is a potent short film that aligns with and expands on the theme of “Shallow Hearts“. It delves into the destructive cycle of blaming others, denying responsibility, and inflicting self-harm.

Both the single and its accompanying video are set to be available on all platforms from Friday, July 21, 2023. Be sure to tune in and experience the latest artistic evolution of The Narcissists.
