Celebrating 30 Years of Maine Hardcore: an in-depth conversation with Chris Linkovich on the Podioslave Podcast

1 min read

Maine’s hardcore scene has long been an underappreciated pillar of the community, teeming with energy, passion, and a DIY ethos that has influenced countless bands.

Now, the Podioslave Podcast is bringing this history to the forefront with their latest episode featuring the legendary Chris Linkovich—a name synonymous with hardcore music, known for his work with bands like Terror, Cruel Hand, On The Outside, Outbreak, and a bunch more.

In a message to us, hosts Anthony and Tony shared: “We had Chris Linkovich on the podcast to talk 30 years of Maine Hardcore. Chris has been active in hardcore since the mid-90s (going to shows, booking shows, being in bands, running his own label, etc.), so he was the perfect person to do a 30-year retrospective on Maine with us.”

The episode is a deep dive into Chris’s journey, starting from his early days attending shows as a 12-year-old. The trio explores the impact of his first hardcore show and how it ignited his dedication to the scene.

They reminisce about memorable moments from the 2000s, including the infamous Terror “ceiling show” at The Station.

“We take the convo all the way through to the present,” the hosts explain, “where Chris is booking shows, running his own label, all while touring the world with Terror. We hit on all the classic venues (Zootz, The Kave!, The Asylum, The Skinny, The Edge, The Well, and more), bands (Polyglot, Lowlife, Outbreak, Cruel Hand, and more), and end with Chris giving his Rushmore of Maine hardcore.”

Maine’s hardcore scene rarely gets the shine it deserves, and this episode serves as both a tribute and a detailed guide to its rich history.
