Heart Attack Man have shared their new single and music video “Stick Up”, off of the upcoming full-length album ‘Freak Of Nature‘ out May 26th on Evil Doer.
Lead vocalist Eric Egan has explained that “Stick Up” was born out of a desire to take control and be less passive, saying that he had grown dissatisfied with his previous outlook on life. The song represents a shift towards assertiveness and standing up for oneself.
The release of “Stick Up” comes ahead of Heart Attack Man’s “Freak Of Na-Tour,” a six-week tour that will include performances in several cities, including Detroit, New York, Philadelphia, Nashville, and Los Angeles, before concluding with two hometown shows in Cleveland.
Heart Attack Man’s latest release also features a pop punk title track called “Freak of Nature” which was co-written by All-American Rejects guitarist Nick Wheeler.
The song is a blend of Sum 41 and PUP’s style, but with Heart Attack Man’s unique touch.
According to singer/guitarist Eric Egan, “Freak of Nature” represents the band’s growth as they allowed themselves to level up musically. The song is a true anthem that embraces feelings of abnormality and being out of place, and the lyrics speak to the sentiment of celebrating these feelings rather than feeling anxious.
Heart Attack Man creates the perfect soundtrack for the journey of self-discovery with their blend of punk, rock, and pop. The band from Cleveland, consisting of Eric Egan, Adam Paduch, and Ty Sickels, turns the awkwardness of growing up into anthems that resonate with outcasts. With millions of streams and recognition from various publications, they tell a different coming-of-age story in their third album, Freak of Nature. Eric explains that the album’s overarching theme is growing up and accepting the fact that he doesn’t have everything figured out.
Heart Attack Man’s journey began with the Acid Rain EP, and they have since released other successful projects and toured with Neck Deep. Collaborating with Lil Aaron in Los Angeles helped shape the creative process of the album.
The title track, “Freak of Nature,” co-written with Nick Wheeler of All-American Rejects, marks the beginning of a new phase for the band. Eric encourages listeners to trust the process and hold on, as things will work out in the end.
