Rising Cumbrian punks COLT 45 kick start their 2013 with the announcement of a slot on this year’s Big Cheese Presents tour alongside Electric River and The Hostiles. Sponsored by longstanding bastion of British punk-print Big Cheese Magazine, the tour starts in Glasgow and takes in six dates around the UK finishing in London.
A phenomenal reception at the tail end of 2012 to their sophomore EP ‘Inside The Triangle’, recorded with superstar rock producer Romesh Dodangoda (The Blackout, Kids In Glass Houses, Twin Atlantic, Funeral For A Friend), saw Punktastic hailing them as “one of the UK’s most exciting new rock bands” and put the icing on a year which also saw them grace stages with The Buzzcocks, Lower Than Atlantis, Gallows, The Subways, Funeral For A Friend, Apologies I Have None and Fighting Fiction.
“We’re really psyched for the upcoming Big Cheese tour in Feb” says drummer Adam Lewis “The guys at the mag always give upcoming artists great opportunities to get out and progress, and that’s what this tour is all about – getting in some new people’s faces and hopefully setting the bar for the rest of our 2013. Having Electric River and The Hostiles on board as well guarantees a great line up and a real treat for everyone attending, we can’t wait!”
COLT 45 are a beast born from touring, a band who’ve learnt their craft on the unforgiving road and put blood, sweat and tears into every performance along the way, and they’re sure as hell not about to stop now. With the melancholic alt-rock of scene heroes like Alkaline Trio, Million Dead, Hot Water Music, Fugazi, and contemporaries The Menzingers ringing in their ears at every opportunity, the lads from Cumbria have got plenty left to give.
If you’re planning on standing at the front, bring a towel.
