CONNOISSEUR: Oakland beatdown stoners cough up “Your Ass Is Grass” Video; Split LP with TRAPPIST out now on Tankcrimes

1 min read

Oakland’s most baked moshlords CONNOISSEUR have exhaled an official video for “Your Ass Is Grass.” The track is found on the band’s Cross Faded split LP with Los Angeles’ TRAPPIST, a lethal convergence of fastcore, sludge, powerviolence, and underground hardcore punk, out now on Tankcrimes.

Self-described as “full blown marijuana addicts from Oakland, California playing really fast and very sludgy at times,” and likening themselves to Earth Crisis if they, “smoked weed and listened to Spazz,” the bongclobbering members of CONNOISSEUR exhale raging upbeat/d-beat surges packed with resin-coated sludgedowns and brutal cheeba-charged vocal exhalations that consume the listener in a violently stoned, inescapable haze. Those who burn to gutter-crusted pillagers Plutocracy, Spazz, Crossed Out, and Dystopia, pay heed. The CONNOISSEUR tracks contained on Cross Faded were recorded and mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, California in August 2019.

CONNOISSEUR’s “Your Ass Is Grass” video was directed by bass player Kunjan Joshi, edited by vocalist Carlos Saldana, includes a guest appearance by renowned Oakland artist Skinner and will literally “smoke your organs.”

The battering fifteen-track TRAPPIST/CONNOISSEUR Cross Faded split is out now on Tankcrimes on vinyl and digital formats at the label webshop and Bandcamp, where the record can be streamed in full.

CONNOISSEUR: Cris Rodriguez – drums, Kunjan Joshi – bass, Carlos Saldana – vocals, Daniel Hague – guitar
