Long Island’s melodic hardcore / punk rock act CRIME IN STEREO are currently recording new music! See the full statement below:
Ok.
Firstly, we kinda, sorta, half-heartedly apologize for not being more forthcoming with updates and news and buzzy type goings on. The truth is, we’re just not that internetly/socially connected. Which doesn’t mean we’re not up to anything…we are in fact working harder than ever on new material, planning new releases and shows, etc. We just aren’t great at keeping you guys up to date on every little thing. As a measure of personal/mental health, we try to spend as little time on the internet as possible. I guess we’ll try to be better with that in the future, but realistically…..we probably won’t. (It’s not you, it’s us).
Also- yes, Crime in Stereo Is Dead and Selective Wreckage were removed from Spotify. We have no idea why. (Spotify still uses a demo-era photo of us from 2003). If we can get it back up there, we will. We have no idea why they were removed, but we’ll see what can be done about getting it back.
Secondly, we are writing and demoing and actually recording new stuff. We can’t wait to get it out to you. We hope you’re as excited as we are. This is far and away the most time we’ve spent hashing out material in a room together since we did The Troubled Stateside. It feels great to just get in a room and play, and we’ve been enjoying every second of it. As soon as there is something for you to hear, you’ll have it. Promise.
There will definitely be new Crime in Stereo material soon. Whether it’s a full length, or an EP, or a 7″, we’re not entirely sure yet, but we’re committed to getting something out as soon as possible.
And yes, as soon as we have new material out, we will be playing shows whenever & wherever possible. We love playing live. We can’t wait to get back out there and see you all.
Finally, on a sadder note, a longtime friend and fan of the band, Mitchell Kraeling, passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. Mitch and Kristian (himself a cancer survivor) became friends and confidants, bonding over their mutual experiences with cancer, and I know it was a tremendous source of happiness for Kristian when Mitch went into remission, and an equally devastating experience when Mitch ultimately lost his battle. We are incredibly saddened to see him go, and the world is worse off for his departure.
We will be performing, for the first time ever, an “Unplugged” set at a benefit for Mitch on February 9th at 89 North Music Venue on Long Island, along with our great friends Vinnie Caruana and the wonderful Hostage Calm. It won’t be an acoustic set, but a very stripped down, intimate performance of our songs. We’ve never done anything like this, and we may not again, so please come out and see us, Vin, & HC perform for a great cause on Feb 9th. All proceeds will be going to Mitch’s famiily. May he rest in peace.
Ok. That’s all for now. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc, feel free to get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
Hope all is well. Be good to each other
