Gothenburg’s hardcore torchbearers, MODERN GUILT, are back with a new release that promises to shake up your straight edge soul. This month the band unleashes Do Not Panic! 7” EP—a six-track banger that showcases their relentless energy and commitment to the straight edge movement, all wrapped up in a package that’s both nostalgic and fresh.

“It’s a 6-song EP with all new tracks. Compared to earlier releases, I would say it’s both harder, faster, and sometimes more melodic than the 1000 Miles demo that we launched earlier this year,” says Thomas Lundin, bassist of MODERN GUILT.

Today, we’re stoked to give you a preview of two tracks, “Incomplete” and “For The People”:

The EP channels the unfiltered aggression and melodic sensibilities of ’80s hardcore, drawing clear lines of inspiration from icons like UNIFORM CHOICE, YOUTH OF TODAY, and MINOR THREAT, while firmly stamping their own signature on each track.

Beyond the sonic assault, Do Not Panic! is deeply rooted in the straight edge philosophy—a defining feature of the band’s identity.

“The lyrics and message of MODERN GUILT revolve around straight edge, but also address political issues that are important to us. The title Do Not Panic! is really a callout for PMA: to stay calm, do what you can to not be part of the problem, and influence people to do better in a world that’s messed up in so many ways,” explains Peter Bader, the band’s vocalist.

True to form, the EP will drop with two different cover editions—one for each label.

This dual release strategy not only highlights the band’s DIY ethos but also celebrates the diversity and unity within the Swedish hardcore scene, so dear to our hearts here on IDIOTEQ.
