DRIFTOFF – JUNIUS and ROSETTA members follow up debut EP with new single addressing climate change!

February 11, 2016
1 min read

Hot on the heels of debut EP Modern Fear, Brooklyn band DRIFTOFF announces a brand new 2-song single: “Denial Machine/No Rescue.” Comprising members of JUNIUS, ROSETTA and CITY OF SHIPS, DRIFTOFF makes a massive, radiant sound, in line with post-hardcore predecessors like QUICKSAND and PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS. The new single carries on right where debut Modern Fear left off – heavy, shimmering, and full of angst. Both recordings were produced by Will Benoit at The Radar Studio (JUNIUS, CASPIAN). The cassette will also be available at Driftoff’s upcoming shows. The band kicks off a short Northeast run tomorrow then heads to Europe later this month for a full European tour (see the dates below).

Noisey has called Driftoff, “a model of excellence in heavy music” and BrooklynVegan names it, “heavy atmospheric rock… throat-shredding yet anthemic vocals.” Where Modern Fear was a meditation on life in New York City, guitarist/vocalist Eric Jernigan explains that the new songs deal with climate change: “The songs speak to our collective frustration with humanity’s willful ignorance – on a societal and individual level – toward what is probably the most pressing issue of our time.”
