We all know how frustrating it can be wasting precious time trying to stay on top of the ever-blooming world of new music, digging through algorithm-driven bots like Spotify. IDIOTEQ is all into no computerized recommendations, no soulless algorithms, so we’re always pleased to give you some tasty new music to enjoy, no matter what genre, style, or mood you’re into. Scottish indie/emo act THE UNION ARES is certainly one of the most pleasant surprises this Fall, and hopefully yet another addition to the ever-expanding wave of 90s inspired bands that provoke thoughts and leave footprints on our hearts. Including members of emo act KOLYA and CARSON WELLS (featured in our multi-artist interview for Time As Color compilation earlier this year), the trio has just dropped their debut 2-track demo and it does offer two compelling sides of their experience so far. We enjoyed the first listen and their performance immensely, so please don’t miss out on it, listen below, and stay tuned for more from these guys in 2018!
Todd grew up in Boston and played in Kolya until around 2001/2. After they broke up he formed The Union Ares with one guy from Kolya and a drummer. A few tracks were recorded and eventually an album, but nothing came of it. He now lives in The Netherlands with his wife and kid. He reached out to us in March 2016 and we met up to jam. We been busy so have only managed to meet up a few times since, but have managed to get a few songs down. Were now itching to play some live shows.
With the influence that Kolya has had on many aspects of Carson Wells, I think it’s a pretty sweet story all in.
