Emotive indie rockers LOOSE CHOIR share new album Shy Side

1 min read

Sacramento’s alt-rock/emo supergroup, LOOSE CHOIR, have dropped their debut full-length album Shy Side through Transylvanian Recordings and Protagonist Music, distributed via Deathwish, Inc.

The collaboration with these labels—better known for their metal and noise-driven rosters—signals an interesting departure with LOOSE CHOIR’s layered and emotive approach to alternative rock.

Formed in 2022 by Rae Boys (vocals), Tatton White (guitar/bass), and Noah G. Prado (drums), the band wasted no time carving out their space in the Sacramento scene.

Their first show in spring 2024, sold out at The Dip in Redding, CA, followed by headlining at Harlow’s/Starlet in Sacramento. Their swift rise has been fueled by collaborations with local videographer Paul Bates and performances on platforms like Sac State Radio’s KSSU, as well as a feature on Less Than Jake’s Chris Demakes’ podcast.

The album itself, recorded by Chris Keene (Saves the Day, Emery) at Chico’s Cutters Cathedral, finds its footing in the space where alt-rock’s ‘90s shadows meet the bright melodies of indie-pop.

The record moves between dynamic guitar-driven energy and intimate, moodier moments, balancing emotional indie-pop with punk-rooted urgency.

Standout tracks like “Sun on Sea” and “Spell of Self” reveal the band’s ability to fuse distorted crescendos with introspective lyricism, while songs like “Patinadora” lean into more delicate, folk-inspired arrangements.

The band have lined up a couple of upcoming shows, including a co-headlining spot at Sacramento’s Porchfest and a release event at Phono Select Records.
