1 min read

Our recent guests, Endless Dive has released their new single and video, “Petit Bain,” and it’s notheasure. This track is the second single off their upcoming album “Souvenances,” which is set to drop on February 28, 2025, via Floral Records in France and Luik in Belgium. If you’re into math rock, acoustic post-rock, or ambient textures, you’re going to want to stick around for this.

“Petit Bain” encapsulates the smell of a swimming pool, the innocence of jumping in with armbands, and the mesmerizing shimmer of sunlight on water. It’s a nostalgic trip that transports you back to simpler times.

Musically, Endless Dive blends intricate math rock rhythms with the ethereal qualities of acoustic post-rock. The ambient layers add a depth that’s both mesmerizing and immersive. Fans of Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, and even newer influences like Bon Iver and Saya Gray will find something to love here. There’s also a touch of The Books, Tortoise, and Bibio in their sound, creating a unique blend that’s simply their own.

The video for “Petit Bain” is a heartfelt homage to childhood memories. Endless Dive reached out to their followers, asking them to submit photos of themselves as children. The response was overwhelming, with 564 photos collected, including their own childhood snapshots. The result is a touching, home-made video that resonates with the song’s themes of nostalgia and innocence.

After releasing three albums and touring extensively across Europe, Endless Dive faced a turning point. The departure of two founding members could have been a setback, but instead, it became a catalyst for reinvention. Remaining members Pierre Van Vlaenderen and Nathan Mondez shifted their creative process from collaborative band sessions to production-focused composition behind a computer.

This change opened the door to new influences and sounds. Incorporating classical guitar, electronic elements, and field recordings from old VHS tapes of their childhood, they crafted “Souvenances,” an album that marks a significant evolution in their musical journey.

Despite the changes, the core of Endless Dive remains intact. Their music is still atmospheric and emotionally charged, maintaining the energy and dynamics that fans have come to love. When they hit the stage, they’ll perform as a four-piece band to keep that live energy alive, revisiting older songs while bringing their new material to life.

“Souvenances” drops on February 28, 2025.
