Sheffield’s Hidden Mothers have returned with their latest single, “Violet Sun”, taken from their upcoming debut album Erosion / Avulsion, set to release on November 29th via Church Road Records.
Known for their distinct fusion of post-hardcore and blackened post-metal, Hidden Mothers have built a reputation for creating an intense yet ethereal atmosphere that blends raw power with deeply personal storytelling.
“Violet Sun” marks the final single before the album’s release and serves as a perfect snapshot of the band’s unique sound.
It’s a track layered with melancholic intensity, where swirling guitars meet thunderous percussion, driving the emotional weight of frontman Scrivens’ vocals. His ability to shift from guttural screams to soaring clean melodies, reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, brings a visceral energy to the song.
“‘Violet Sun’ was originally an acoustic song that Luke had fully written himself, in a single sitting, before he brought it to the band and it became what it is on the album. Normally his lyrics take a long time to come together but this one just poured out of him.” – Hidden Mothers
The lyrics, drawing on themes of pain and catharsis, give “Violet Sun” a deeply emotional core, making it resonate long after the final note.
