EXCLUSIVE: NEXT STOP ATLANTA interview

2 mins read

We conducted this short promo interview with rock/pop-punk rookies NEXT STOP ATLANTA on January 8, 2012.

New Stop Atlanta

Hello, guys. Please, introduce yourself and your band.

Hi I’m Georgia (vocals), I’m Nik (guitar), I’m Blake (bass), and I’m Ant (drums). And we are NEXT STOP ATLANTA!

How’s Preston, England these days? Please tell us about your local pop punk scene.
Georgia:

Preston is flourishing right now. Some really promising acts breaking through. We just need more venues!

Why did you choose this name for your band?
Nik:

Well, “Atlanta” is in Georgia, so we figured it fitted well.

What are the biggest changes since you formed the band?
Ant:

Ultimately we have grown as musicians. We have only been a band for two years, but we have got stuck in from day one and made sure we progressed steadily.

You released your debut EP in December 2010. Now we are looking forward to your mini-album, due of February 2012. Please tell us more about the outing.
Georgia:

The mini-album will put us in the frame as contenders. We are proud of every song on the release. You can hear our development in the songs. We just hope it is well received!

Are you more into “pop” or “punk” right now?
Blake:

Punk. We appreciate pop music but its a 60/40 split.

There is so little pop punk bands that stay in the underground and live by DIY ethics. What’s your opinion on mainstream music? Is it a goal for you to make your band PARAMORE alike or rather hit the independent road?
Nik:

If a band outgrows the independent market through hard work I feel they have every right to drop the DIY ethics. I fully endorse that. That applies to our band. My opinion on mainstream music is, I feel it needs to more consumer controlled and not fully manipulated by the record companies.

How many shows have you been playing so far and how important is touring for you?
Georgia:

We gig as often as we can, same goes for touring. We want to reach as many people as possible with our music.

What band would you choose to release your first split with?
Ant:

We have a lot of respect for FIREWORKS. I’d say them.

What label would you like to sign to?
Blake:

Red Bull Records would do nicely. They come across in a brilliant light, really down to earth.

What do you guys do in your private lives? How much time do you spend dedicating yourself to the band?
Nik:

Every spare minute is spent promoting the the band. Weather it’s online promo, shows, writing, emailing. You name it, we do it. We all work full time so it gets full on at times. Keeps us on our toes though.

What are you most looking forward to in the future as a band?
Georgia:

Touring, meeting new people, sharing new experiences.

Thanks! Is there anything you’d like to add?
Georgia:

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please check us out online or at a show sometime!
