SHEDFROMTHEBODY, an independent doomgaze / alternative metal artist from Espoo, Finland, joins us today for a special premiere of their new atmospheric track “Fascia“, “a heavy, yet ethereal piece that moves between lumbering, monolithic sludge metal, and light, airy instrumentation, exploring themes like loss of identity and a sense of otherness.”
Suvi Savikko’s music paints a distorted, ethereal landscape, through which she carries her songs with hauntingly beautiful vocals and lone, wailing guitars. With primary roots in doom metal, doom folk, and early 2000s alternative, Shedfromthebody‘s music varies from grim to comforting, from crushingly heavy to light and airy.
Suvi Savikko has been active since 2018 and released her debut album, “A Dead and Aimless Hum”, in May of 2020. She has roots in visual art, and the same aesthetic sensibilities have greatly influenced her music. She has also produced darkwave music under the name 1X4X44R, and composed music for Perfect Garbage Studios’ game Love Shore.
The new song omes from Shedfromthebody‘s new album “To Hold The Ripened Sun” (Black Terror Records), a visceral offering about hungry, dark earth, and the act of losing oneself completely in it. “It’s about decay, the suffocating warmth of sunlight on skin, and the insignificance of the soul in the slow burning of all things.” – says Suvi. “It’s heavier, more massive, and more vibrant than Shedfromthebody has ever been before, intertwining gentleness with anger, and harshness with softness.”
