Creepsylvania’s finest, the merciless splatterthrashers in GHOUL, will be once again hitting the road with GWAR, this time joined by thrash titans MUNICIPAL WASTE as well as Legacy of Disorder on select dates.
The band will be shredding through classic cuts as well as newer material from 2011’s critically acclaimed and viciously fun Transmission Zero (now available on CD/LP/digitally from Tankcrimes).
The album was recorded by Sal Reya at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, CA, and features eleven ripping tracks of GHOUL’s trademark death-thrashing crossover mayhem. Extreme Responses’ James Hoare praised it as “superbly anachronistic stuff – all fist-pumpingly punkish, up-tempo grinding crossover thrash, with Carcass-bothering high vocals and Massacre-like slab-battering lows,” while FEARnet raved, “When the worlds of thrash, punk, surf, death and hardcore collide with such insane force, there’s a risk that the resulting explosion will be too much to handle… but not so for GHOUL, whose knack for pitch-black humor, clever lyrical storytelling (this is a concept album, after all) and solid hooks succeeds in stitching the scattered material together into a hulking altered beast.”
The “Return of the World Maggot” tour kicks off in Richmond, VA on March 16th, 2012 with a special tribute show to benefit the family of GWAR’s Cory Smoot, AKA Flattus Maximus, who recently passed away. All proceeds from the Richmond show will benefit the “Smoot Family Fund.”
