GOING OFF drop the Halloween-timed “Kill List II” while guitarist Nate walks through the movies to watch every October

Going Off land “Kill List II” on Halloween, sliding straight into the season without fuss or costume, and the timing feels deliberate. The UK band’s sound is harsh, direct, and wired to the same energy that people spend October chasing: loud rooms, odd hours, and a little violence on the screen.

Alongside the EP comes a list of guitarist Nate’s top horror films, the kind he returns to every year, and there’s a through-line between his picks and the band’s tone—scrappy, weird, and full of teeth.

Paired with “Kill List II”, all of this makes sense. Ugly, dirty, hard UK hardcore doesn’t come from nowhere—it comes from late-night viewing habits, posters burned into childhood memory, and characters who look back at you with pins in their head.

Put the record on, flip the lights low, and queue the movies Nate swears by. October’s always better when there’s something loud in the background.

Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

The Nightmare On Elm Street franchise has been one of my favourites since I was younger. Dream Warriors is by far my favourite of the series for sure. It’s got some of the best kills, the best one-liners and a banging soundtrack featuring Dokken. Couldn’t ask for more really! I’ve even got a Freddy tattoo from the scene where he’s got syringes for fingers!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

“The saw is family!” As much as I love the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, I always find myself reaching for the sequel when I’m stuck for something to watch. This movie focuses more on Leatherface’s family, and introduces his brother Chop-Top who’s played by Bill Moseley. It’s hilarious, gory and weird, so it’s right up my street. You’ll also hear a sample of Chop-Top saying “Dog will hunt” in Primus’ classic song “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver”.

Braindead/Dead-Alive

This is a totally fun zombie movie from Peter Jackson, the mind behind the Lord Of The Rings movies. Really daft humour and some epic gory kills too. It’s similar to the Evil Dead franchise but a little bit more unhinged. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen this now, it’s been a solid favourite of mine since I happened to watch it with my sister when I was a teen. The scene where the Baby Selwyn gets merked in a blender cracks me up every time

Halloween III: Season Of The Witch

An absolutely underrated gem, that sadly gets a lot of flack for being in the Halloween series and not actually having Michael Myers in it (although technically he is if you count the fact that one of the TVs is playing a Halloween trailer during one of the scenes). I love everything about this movie, the suspense, the effects, and Tom Atkins plays a blinder as the lead. I definitely urge you to give this movie another chance if you’ve previously written it off!

Hellbound: Hellraiser II

Another firm favourite of mine that I’ve watched countless times. I’ve always been fascinated by Pinhead since I was a kid, after seeing posters in the video shop and the VHS cases that used to be at my sister’s place. I knew I had to watch it the first chance I got, and thankfully one of my friends at school let me borrow it. Whereas the original Hellraiser movie is a timeless classic and another of my favourites, I really love how the sequel really goes into the lore of Pinhead and the other Cenobites and also expands a lot on the original.
